An essay by Chieftain Mintaurden Coarsemane.
For four years, since the departure of the Burning Legion from Azeroth and the
restoration of order throughout the world, the Alliance and the Horde have been
at a state of peace, if a very fragile and patchy one. Though the Alliance and
the Horde do not openly claim to be at war with each other as factions, the
nations that comprise the two forces do have disputes with Those they see as the
opposition. Many of these disputes are conflicts over the ownership of land.
Perhaps the most prominent of these disputes is that between the Orcish
Frostwolf Clan, and the Dwarven
Stormpike Expedition Force. The Frostwolf Clan
were long ago banished to the icy, harsh valley, hidden away in the depths of
the Alterac Mountains, by the famed warlock Gul’dan. After the mighty Warchief
Thrall united the Orcish clans, the Frostwolves became part of the new Horde,
and lived for years in peace under their leader, the shaman Drek’Thar.
However, their peace was cut short as the Stormpike Expedition, a group of
explorers from the Dwarven Stormpike clan, came to the valley in search of
artefacts that may reveal clues about their mysterious origins. Drek’Thar saw
this relic-hunting as an offence to his clan’s way of life, and his clan vowed
to drive the interlopers from their lands. As the fighting between them grew
more intense, both factions sought the help of their allies, first from the Orcs
and the Dwarves, and then from the whole of the Horde and Alliance. Each of the
factions persists in combat.
Another such conflict is the ongoing battle for Warsong Gulch, a stretch of
land between The Barrens and the lush forests of Ashenvale. This conflict came
about as a result of the legendary Grom Hellscream’s expedition into Ashenvale
Forest, where he sought resources to fuel the growing Horde. His lack of respect
for the forest sparked fury among the Night Elves, who immediately started
raiding Hellscream’s camp seeking revenge for those trees which had already been
destroyed, and trying to drive the Orcs from the forest.
The Warchief Thrall intervened, and ordered a retreat from Ashenvale. However,
despite his orders, some chose to remain in the Gulch, calling themselves the
Warsong Outriders. The Night Elves, specifically the Silverwing Sentinels, who
are in the process of a huge attack to take back their forests, have begun to
focus on driving out the Outriders. Soon both sides required reinforcements, and
the Alliance and Horde answered their calls. The fighting between the factions
continues still.
The third major land dispute in Azeroth in present day is the conflict over
Arathi Basin. The Forsaken, having regained their free will and joined the
Horde, sought to expand their territory and moved in to the Arathi Highlands.
The League of Arathor, a chivalric order established by survivors from
Stromgarde, seek to reclaim the Arathi Highlands from the Forsaken Defilers in
Hammerfall. Based in Refuge Pointe near the centre of the Highlands, they moved
in to Arathi Basin to try to recapture its resource-rich land for their
benefactors in Stormwind. The Horde moved in to help their new Forsaken Allies,
and the Alliance in response joined the League to aid them in their attempts to
reclaim the Basin. Both factions continue to fight there.
These are just three of many disputes between Alliance and Horde. Though the
factions are still, technically, not at war, there have been many breaches of
the ceasefire by both sides, and the relative peace between them remains
neutral.
For now, there is no foreseeable end to the futile fighting, however, some
noble pacifist guilds and organizations abstain from the combat, some choosing
to avoid all war completely, while others choose to fight only in the defence of
already established borders, such as the noble Ari Scara, a guild I am proud to
serve.

"It was a day like almost like any other when Cajuungumbo announced me that it is time for me to join him, Rota and Elmonk in a place unknown by me. He told me to be ready for they are going to summon me there, and as I am ready any moment of the day or night, they summoned me into a certain place called by the humans the Deadmines .Vicious place it was indeed, but Cajuungumbo, Rota and Elmonk kept it safe for me.
They informed me before that there was a rift into the Nether there, and I could investigate it and explore it.
After a few moments I took for my eyes to examine the place, we all went to the portal through which you go deeper into the mines. And there it all started, I blinked into the portal and ended up on the other side but without the normal consequence of actually going through the portal normally and being thrown deeper, I went there in a second, the normal process would cost a few more seconds of our time. Then I blinked back through the portal, but I ended up in a parallel dimension of the mines, empty of life. I was instructed to look for a bright blue light in a certain tunnel right ahead of me, and so I did. Reaching it was without peril, for as I said, the mines were emptied of life. I then performed the magic of slow falling, and threw myself into that light, floating gently through the mightiest mountain I have ever seen, its beak unreachable by no force whatsoever, and ended up in the deepest ocean. These things that I first saw would catch even the gnome’s rigid and indifferent mind eyes. I then started swimming almost to the end of my powers towards east, south east most likely, where I finally made it on land. Then my eyes were drawn by nothing I have ever seen before. A white pond, perhaps the purest water got frozen, perhaps it was similar to the water in the elvish moon wells, but it’s glamour and beauty amazed me, and as I walked on it, there was a crack in the ground, deeper even than the ocean, and I had thought I could not get out of it, but finally I did. I got back on my feet again, and started walking, and walking ... and walking. I slipped and fell on my head, bled a bit but it was alright. Then I looked down and saw I was walking on a part of that warm ocean I told you about at first, but this one was frozen into a greenish ice. My feet were in heaven I must tell you, being a mage and all, mastering the school of frost, it was delightful. I started running towards to never-ending horizon, and so I did for some time, until I saw some cliffs, small ones indeed, but caught my eye fast like lighting stroke them. I went there, and there was another great surprise. A wall, an arcane wall, floating in the Nether and at the same time, in another dimension, perhaps in the real world of Azeroth, showing an area with trees and a human house. Nonetheless I touched that wall, and my hand was floating in it , but suddenly it took a strong grip of my arm and tried to pull it in, I turned around almost braking my arm, and I blinked without hesitation. I touched my arm without looking at it, and it was fine. I lied down, and there was another surprise coming. Arcane rainbows floating everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I stood up, and kept walking without looking straight but looking over my shoulder at everything I saw , and suddenly I fell but quickly I took a grip of the rock I slipped on. When I looked down, it was a canyon, a whole like nothing I have seen before, filled with darkness and you could almost hear whispers through it. I climbed up, sat down, caught my breath... and I looked at what was in front of me. Nothing looked suspicious, the rocks were held by arcane, floating almost, like arcane was holding all the land in the Nether, the same beautiful rainbows ...but then I looked over my right shoulder and saw two dark floating runic like rocks and I heard a whispering voice swiftly through the air with my long sharp ears...it was telling me to fall..Over and over and over again..."fall....Fall. FALL" ...when it started almost screaming I repeatedly said "No!”... Then the hearthstone’s power faded for a couple of minutes. Fearing the worst I drew some sketches of everything I saw while that voice continuously told me to fall. Sadly for me, after I finished my last sketch I blanked out for some time, I do not know what happened in that time... Perhaps Cajuungumbo, Rota or Elmonk know what I did or said to them.
I woke up almost a day after the incident , but my body was already woken up , moving and freezing burning or blasting everything in its way , without me being able to stop it, then I knew ... I was possessed kept talking to the demon , trying to fight him off , but I was too weak to do it. Then I formed a plan of letting him do whatever he wished, but in the meantime I went deeper and deeper into his own demonic mind to try and find out his plans, his weakness, and his own thoughts... his name. I found that he possessed me through a powerful orc warlock, his name was Banehollow and he was a Dread lord, a selfish demon, a tyrant residing in Jaedenar somewhere in Fellwood. He kept talking to my pack brothers through the hearthstone, insulting them. I tried my best to overwhelm him with my thoughts so that he could not continue in doing that, but I couldn’t so i followed my plan to know his mind and everything. During that time, my mind was in complete torture, past memories flowing in and out, raging my soul to its limit.
After not too long, he left my body for I found weaknesses in his mind, which I explored and fought. As happy as I could have been, my body was dieing, weakness took it, shadow tortured it and I thought I was lost. But then I knew that I am a member of the pack, and I love them as brothers and sisters and maybe they love me or once shall.
In the end, Fenris Nar went and slew the demon, and for that I shall be forever pledged to him with my appreciation and gratitude. And also for all the pack, who although were attending much heavier tasks, their spirit stood by my side. That was a huge help from their side, which gave me the power to hold on and resist whatever dark magic were weakening my soul, body and mind.
..... Thank you brothers and sisters ... And I am deeply sorry if this deed had upset any of you in any way possible... *draws out a long stomping howl with arcane, fire and frost flowing through any orifice of his body*...

What is this guild all about?
The purpose of the guild is to heighten the overall RP-feel of the Earthen Ring Server by having its members acting IC in all public channel and not breaking character and thus breaking immersion for other players of the realm. The thought is to make the server a better place role-play –wise by example rather than complaining about the lack of role-play as complaining doesn’t change much.
We create stories and plots with the intend of making RP events but the main emphasis is that the involment in these are reserved for the members of the guild.
-
How does this guild different from other guilds
It is in the way that it is very strict in the RP sense and this is enforced within the guild frame. Members are encouraged to role-play with each other and the rest of the server and given advice and tutelage in how to do so if desired. But also scolded when breaking character or immersion for others.
-
Is the Ari Scara better than other RP guilds?
Of course it is the best!
But seriously you will have to judge that for your self.
-
Why cant I use punctuation smilies in the guild chat it is a lot faster to write?
Because it is immersive breaking in that role-play and the display of emotion in MMORPGS is text based not punctuation based. If you are in such a hurry that you cant type *smile* instead of :) then perhaps this guild isn’t the right one for you.
-
When do we raid Molton Core?
We as a guild do not arrange large scale raids unless they are part of an ongoing guild plot but we are part of the Chillwind Covenant which is an association of RP guilds that arrange that sort of runs to Molton Core and Zul Gurrub among other. Ask the Lupus for advice on how to attend get in touch with them.
-
Who are the officers of the guild
At the time of writing the Guildmaster is Ghazkull, the officers are Nar and Nard and the advisor is Cajuungumbo.
-
How do I get promoted?
Read the sections Advantages and Hierarchy & Promotions for information about progression within the guild.
-
How do I get help for a certain quest or instance?
Well you can always ask in the guild channel, in an IC manner of course, but if you want to be absolutely sure then attend a guild meeting and make an IC request and the Officers of the guild will arrange for someone to assist you.
-
When and where are the guild meetings?
Every Tuesday at 19:00 game time there is a guild meeting. At time of writing they are held in the Ring of Valour in the Valley on honour in Orgrimmar. If you are having trouble finding it please ask in the guild channel.
-
What is the Guild policy on ganking and corpse camping?
It is forbidden! If you are caught doing such purposely you will be expelled from the guild. When you wear the Ari Scara guild tabard you represent all of us and have to act and behave according to guild ideals. However Corpse Camping is a phenomenon hard to define and if say an alliance assassin killed a lot of young Horde within the palisade walls of Crossroads you wouldnt be corpse camping him if you are present when he fell. It is your home. What we discourage is the setting up camp on the corpse of a slain foe in contested territories away from any settlements.
-
I have a good friend can he/she join?
If you want to have your friend joining you can do one of the following
- Have him or her meet and talk with one of the guild members that has invitationale privileges (wolfguard and up)
- Invite him your self if you have invitation privileges but remember to instruct him or her in the ways of the Ari Scara and inform him who the guild officers are and what the web address for the guild library is.
-
Is there anything I am not allowed to say on the international forum regarding the guild?
Freedom of speech enables you to say what ever you want but we appreciate that if you utter opinions and write articles presenting ideas that contradict the guild ideals that you make sure to state that they are your opinions and not those of the guild in your post. Failure to do so may result in banning if your opinions are contradictive to the ideals of the guild if stating them puts the guild in a bad light because you fail to differentiate your opinion and the guilds ideals.
-
Is there anywhere I can learn more about the Ari Scara?
This website contains a well of knowledge and information about the guild but also be sure to check and register with the Ari Scara Forum as many important guild related facts are posted there
-
Is the 1337 side stronger?
Quicker, easier, more seductive...
-
Does the Ari Scara have any IC enemies that I should be aware of or attack on sight?
No not at the time being. In times past we had heave feuds with the Wildfire Guild because of politically strongly different interest and this often led to blodshed. This seized when a truce was settled although their in the aftermath still were isolated episodes of interguild differences. At present however we have no direct enemies neither Horde nor Alliance side and take great pride in our ability to remain neutral and promote peace between the all but warring factions.
-
Do we have any IC allies
Yes plenty. We are a member of the Chillwind Covenant which houses many fine and honourable Role-playing guilds on horde side and we do at all times honour that alliance. The chillwind covenant has an interguild RP channel which we encourage all our members to join by typing /join powwow. Other than that we have a strong and friendly relation with the alliance guild The Hopes of Azereroth who isnpire the same ideals on alliance side as we do on Horde side. We encourage all our members to treat the members of our allies guilds with courtesy and respect.
-
I play an evil and or selfish character what should I do in the Ari Scara?
Probably start looking for another guild and fast. Even though we are a full out RP guild there certain elements that, even if RP'ed well, does not fit in with the ideal and members of the Ari Scara. If you want to play the role of someone seeking: blood, death, vengance, demonic possesion and the ultimate destruction of the world you have come to the wrong place. Not stating that that kind of play consequently is bad role-play but that it is roleplay that does belong in a peacelong guild as it ruins the atmosphere for those that does not seek such. There are plenty of evil guilds on horde side and if you play such a character we do reccomend that you seek out a guild such as the Dawn of Shadows instead perhaps as their agenda seem to be more suitable for you style of play.
-
I want to interact but I also want to grind, can I emote interact in the guild channel while I level my character
The guild channel is 100% IC but we do advice against starting emote interacting heavily in the guild channel when not physically present with the characters as it is immersive breaking and in not very thoughtfull to others not participating in the drama but present in the guild channel. That means that we encourage things like *is surprised at such suggestion* but frown upon things like *bores his blade deep in the thigh or Ghazkull and laughs in his face* when the characters physically is in each their corner of the world.
Power emoting in genral is frowned upon and heavily discouraged!
We do encourage and support interactive role-play in between our members but if you want to interact with them via emotes that is 'physical' EG: fighting and such, have the common sense to seek them out in the gameworld instead of trying to slap them silly in the guild channel.

You guys are such RP n00bz let me tell you how its done
Arrogance is viewed as a sin and humbleness a virtue.
Nobody forced you to join with us and if you dont like the way things are done in our guild then nobody is keeping you here. If however you chose to remains with us then respect our ideals and policies and if you have suggestions as to how we can improve, the express them in a polite manner.
If you are with us it is because someone from the guild recognised something in you that resembled the way we look at things and had high hopes for you as a member of the guild. If they were wrong and the Ari Scara is nothing for you then please leave. But remember you came to us and were offered a place in our family because you appeared to share our ideals but if we perceptieved who you are wrongly then please leave and above all dont tell us how to run our guild.
Suggestions are always welcome, patronising and condensation is not.
-
I want to make my own guild that will be stronger and more powerfull than the burning legion and I will come back and destroy you all
Feel free to do so. Leave the Ari Scara and find ten people who share your ideals and form a guild of your own. You do this by aquirring a Guild charter from any of the Major cities and have it signed by ten players, not ten characters. And I guess we will see you as soon as you and your legions of Ari Scara hating minions have assembled a vast army. *smiles*
-
Some people are talking OOC in the guild channel what should I do
Report this to a member of the guild with guild rank Fenris or above. DO NOT POLICE THE GUILD OR OOC CHANNEL! It is not your responsibility.
-
I dont like some of the members of the guild
You can be friends with everybody. Our advice is to avoid them but if that is impossible then try to work out your differencies in a civil manner. If that dont work either then bring the matter to a guild meeting and it will be resolved by the Fenris.
-
Ex-members of the Ari Scara are saying you guys really suck
There is most often a connection between that statement and them being 'EX' -members. If you share their opinion then you are free to join them of course.
-
Is it true that Cajuun went beyond the dark portal
Dont believe everything you hear but yes.
-
How come no one ever help me with my quests and levelling I thought you guys were all about brotherhood
Perhaps the way you approach the other members is not very pleasant. Try and act nice and respectful towards the other members of the guild.
-
People keep telling me I smell what can I do?
Take a bath.
-
I heard that you get a free mount at level 40 is that true?
No. When you complete your wolverine quest you can loan the money to buy one. Read more about the guild ranks in and priveleges in Advantages
-
Whenever I engage a monster in combat I almost always get killed and cant seem to hurt them
Try and wield a weapon or use your spells and abilities. Be sure at all time to wear armour. Dont go into places where monsters live that are much stronger than you, especially not if you venture alone.¨
-
I never seem to have any money why is that?
Because you spend them. If you have trouble saving up try to avoid places like Auction Houses, Bars and dont ever give money away to random strangers. If you are a bit more confident in your ability to resist flashy commodities of the auction houses you can learn how to work it. All items whose name is in white text(not grey) is something that some class and or profession use in one way or the other and thus if you pick up such you might be able to get a substantial ammoun of money for it if you sell it on the auction house as opposed to selling then to a vendor.
Understanding of market mechanisms such as supply and demand helps you sell your goods at reasonable prices and how to beat the competition.
Many play MMORPGS Just for the levelling and power gaming but with no desire for roleplay or get immersed. The select few who seeks more in the game get in their character and to a certain extend pour their real life emotions into them as well in order to make them come alive, seem more convincing and thereby witness and part take in stories that are much grander than just the machine generated quests. This is not completely without risk though. The more immersed you become the more convincing your play will appear but the bigger the chance that some of your characters emotions will transcend and become your emotions meaning that when they are sad, you become sad, when they are filled with furious anger you pound your fist into the screen and so on and so forth. This can of course be described as form of therapy and would not be a problem for any one by your self. Even though using MMORPGS as an outlet for these frustrations seem somewhat disturbing. But when you interact with other player’s characters they too become affected by your real life emotions and are more or less forced to respond or react if they don’t want to break their own immersion.
THIS IS BAD! Everybody pays the same amount of money to get entertained and forcing your real life problems onto others through your character and his or her actions are like stealing from them. You have them pay blizzard to get the opportunity to act as your psychologist or psychiatrist.
In order to prevent this I have written a list of heuristics that, if adhered to, can help save your sanity and that of those around you. These are no directives for the behaviour conduct within the guild but more "rules of thumb" in general regards to role-playing.
- Maturity and Responsibility.
Maturity has nothing to do with age, I have seen 14 year olds take care of their entire family without as much as a single complaint, and 40 year olds who acts as babies if they don’t get their way. Maturity is about taking responsibility for your actions. In game context that means if you role-play deep emotions of negative nature the be sure that it wont ruin the game for others by stealing their time if they don’t want to. Or force others to react if they do not want to break character. When you play you also have a collective responsibility, meaning that you represent a group that has certain ideals, belief and standards. People outside this group can't always tell the difference between you and other members so when you start acting like a jerk, many people who see other representatives of that group, whether this be faction, race, profession or guild immediately perceive them as jerks as well. In game example: There has been so many poorly played paladins that the few who play them decently never get a chance to do so because of their irresponsible predecessors.
- Keep personal details away from the game.
Maybe you have some personal issues that are hard for you to discuss with real life people and maybe you are even lucky enough to find someone in game who listens out of politeness, but be aware that you again steal their time by telling you of your real life problems, even if they are game related. If you have some serious real life problems based on game experiences then stop playing and seek help! Don’t go around telling people how you feel sad and lonely as this forces them to react whether they like it or not as they would break bonds with the character you play. And don’t ask any others of real life details like age, name or where they live; even if they tell you, it has no relevance what so ever to the roles we play. A friend of mind told me that her sister had been in a guild run by a really well played character but when she discovered that the player behind the character was a lot younger than she, she could not continue to have the same in game respect for his leadership anymore and had to leave the guild which is sad because she really enjoyed her time there.
- No open ended personal plots
If you decide to write a plot involving your character and want to involve others in this be sure to have a reasonable way or ending the various episodes of the story you want to tell. If not peoples characters that are in someway related to your character will run around on wild goose chases searching for solutions and answers that aren’t there, and again thereby wasting their time. Writing good stories and plots can be be great and rewarding experiences for all that participate whether this be as writers or characters but demands a lot of responsibility. Characters you in general consider friendly towards you characters will do almost anything to help but if they cannot help then you should not instigate a problem as they will try no matter what and there by spent hours of their prepaid time looking for the legendary beast of Quarg deep in the ahsenvale forest. Do not start something you cant finish!
- Be aware of your own and others emotions
If you start to feel you get in to deep, then maybe it is time to pull the plug. Not only can you get hurt yourself but the stories that brought you in this state may very well have affected those around you as well, especially if they too immerse them selves deeply. And although it may not have been your intend you could end up making them feel sad, hurt or betrayed in real life. This especially goes for in game relationships, be sure to have a mutual OOC understanding of what you both want from this kind of play before playing it out.
- Play for fun
This is a game and its purpose is entertainment. Many people are of course entertained in different ways but what is entertaining for you might be very frustrating for others, bare this in mind if you start to play out your personal furbolg fetishisms when you are not alone.
These are, as I mentioned earlier, not guild laws but merely words of advice from a long time serious RP'er who has seen people go insane because they could not distinct between play and real life and started mixing the two things up. Why am I still sane after all this time? *Cajuun shrugs... who know*
Cenarion Circle takes its name from Cenarius. He was the son of Mo'sha, the moon, and the great white stag Apa'ro.
Long ago he taught the way of the druid to the Tauren who he hunted and lived with but later he left for places unknow. Eventually he made contact with the Night Elves and also taught them the way of the druid. Cenarius was killed by Grom Hellscream and his tribe when they had given themselves over to the bloodcurse of Mannoroth.
I was unsuccesful at finding any material, writen or spoken, which would tell abot Cenariuses time with the Night Elves or how he made contact with them in the first place but I assume that the Circle was formed by Cenariuses students and other followers. He fought with them when the Burning Legion first invaded Azheroth but I cant give you any exact time for the founding of the Circle. The night elves might have more lore on the matter and I wish that one day I might learn more.
During the most recent invasion, while we all were fighting against the Legion Hamuul Runetotem befriended Malfurion Stormrage and was granted a place in the previously night elf dominated Circle. Runetotem and his closest diciples are responsble for bringing the lost way of the druid back to the Taurens.
Small hamlet of Nighthaven in Moonglade is the current headquaters of the Cenarion Circle. There are of course a presence in both Thunder Bluff and Darnassus as well as in few other outposts around the world but Moonglade is a place in common with all the druids regardless of race.
And this brings us to the current times and the state of conflict.
The Cenarion Circle is organization of Druids dedicated to protecting nature, and restoring the damage done to it by malevolent forces. And they welcome all who respect the authority and command of nature. The Cirle does not take sides with the ongoing conflict but it does enforce peace in Moonglade where all druids should be able to come together in peace.
There are places still badly corrupted in the world.
There are still things loose that threaten the balance.
Druids as invividuals and as members of the Cirle should be able to work together towards goal that will benefit everyone on this world.
The events that took place the day after Meda and Ishuguros wedding were shocking indeed and we still have to uncover the true motives of what went on. What we do know at this point is the following:
Almost a week before the wedding Armsmaster Ghazkull was in secret contacted by Blodtörst a from the Ravaging Savages. She came asking for aid in a raid that was to take place the day after the wedding. Despite their name, the Ravaging Savages has proven honourable and the Ari Scara has always kept good relations with them, and we have earlier fought and bled side by side defending our home and ideals. There fore it was without doubt in heart that Ghazkull responded to her call for aid and mustered the Ari Scara troops. I my self not having been properly informed as to the objectives of the raid was a bit sceptical but given our history, Ravaging Savages and us, I saw good reason to show. I was even more convinced that there was good cause for the raid when I arrived at Grom Gol and saw that Ushindi was present. That is a guild the Ari Scara has even better relations with and has had almost since our forming. I was quickly briefed by the Armsmaster who was leading the attack on our behalf* and was told that we were to act as a diversion for a larger attack force. This tactic has proven successful earlier and still I did not object.
The initial attack on Sentinel Hill and the Tower went without obstruction and alliance resistance was futile. However during that I noted seemingly innocent but disturbingly and repeated attempts to make us give away our position and that of our second strike force by a supposed ally called Rolster(not good on names spelling may be wrong).
The march upon Elwynn Forest went somewhat troublesome as the enemy recovering from our initial blow was following us this time now in large numbers. We lost many good men and women in Elwynn that day and coordination seemed somewhat failing, but we had to press on we, we had to buy time for our second larger strike force. I proudly noticed our warriors Baramurth, Safran, Meda and Elmonk fighting valiantly against a force that now outnumbered us four to one. Our number heavily dwindling, the Ari Scara stood brave in the battle against the West Brook Garrison and their elven allies, but where was the second strike force that were fighting and dying to buy time for?
A general retreat sounded and those still able to walk carried their wounded comrades to a rally point hidden in the dunes in the north west of Westfall, near the sea. Heavily wounded we looked to Blodtörst for signs of comfort, a word that our deaths and wounds had not been in vain. We asked her;
Did the main strike force get to their objective?
Did we buy them the time they needed?
There was silence followed by the order to move out and prepare for another assault at the bridge to Duskwood. Hesitant but obedient, although nearly beaten we followed and assembled at the bridge. It was an ambush; we were slaughtered like sheep before the alliance army that had now reached its peak in numbers. I my self was badly injured and managed to hide beneath the bridge. Nearly deafened by the screams of fallen comrades I tried to communicate with Ghazkull and it was decided to pull out before we lost anymore. As I blew the horn to retreat I witnessed a thing that made my blood turn ice, from my shelter beneath the bridge I saw a troll standing between the corpses of all those brave champions of the horde who had given their life that day. He had not a single scratch on his body and he stood straight and looked at the enemy commander Saul who slowly approached him on his horse. The battle had died out and the only sounds were the mourning of those for which death was but breaths away. As the troll stood before the alliance commander he was commended and received a rather large chest of gold. What was this a traitor? I felt blood and fury rushing through my veins and was just about to charge him with no regard for my own life, when I saw that Baramurth and Safran were still alive, making their way through the bracket. I would not end it all here. I remained hidden, watching … waiting. I saw Blodtörst lying on the ground between her men barely alive and I knew she saw the traitor for she tried to crawl towards him as we both realized … there had never been a main strike force. I motioned for her to remain calm and she did so by fainting. Whether this was on purpose or due to lack of blood I can’t say. As I made my way to the Ari Scara rally point I tried to recall where I had seen this traitor troll before. His markings seemed somewhat familiar. I managed to bandage my self and went into a meditative state while I waited for the others in Dagger Hill.
The name Zurockhai came to mind. I am not sure if it was him but his facial paintings seemed very much like those I had seen on Zurockhai earlier in the spring although I had not laid eyes upon that troll for quite a while. Zurockhai is the leader of the Wildfire clan, a savage pack of brutes bend on their own destruction. They lure naive warriors to join their cause by the promise of blood and glory and the telling of false legends and myth of ancient orcs and trolls. These myths seem to be derived from some sort of outcast orc or troll who allied himself with a deamon to avenge his death, which by the way was by the hand of his own people. Now they seek to provoke conflict with the alliance at any given opportunity with agitation and misinformation to horde troops. Zurockhai was even the one who dishonoured the wedding of Meda and Ishiguro by placing a bounty on the head of one of our elven guests, Faya, that subsequently had to flee for her life, chased by mercenaries and bounty hunters. I have long regarded the Wildfires as loose cannons but I had never suspected that they would sink as low as to offer their services to the enemy. And as I thought about it I could not remember having seen one single wildfire at the battlefield despite them constantly yelling and screaming for the horde to go to battle when we were in our homes and at peace.
I fear that there may be some sinister plot going on between the Wildfire and the alliance but I dare not follow my thoughts through to conclusion as it may involve the demon control I myself just barely escaped.
I think we should remain at good terms with Ravaging Savages and Ushindi because I believe they, as we, were pawns in a game played by those who do not value life of their kin, I saw that in Blodtösts eyes as she lay mortally wounded on the battlefield.
From this day forth the Ari Scara will no longer be mercenaries and fight other people’s battles without full disclosure of the objectives and positions of allied forces. We will defend Crossroads and the Barrens as we have done in time past but will not raid under command of others.
All Ari Scara be careful and cautious should you come across any members of Wildfire, do not offer them friendship or support but try if you can figure out what they are up to.
Cajuungumbo, Lupus of the Ari Scara
*
Ghazkull was in charge of this operation as he has tactical command and was the one who was originally had been contacted by the Ravaging Savages.
The spirit of the wolf is the spirit of the Ari Scara. It is untamed, free and ferocious. We all feel the need to be unchained, free and the masters of our own destiny, free as the wolves. Wolves are able to overcome the most impossible tasks, not because of their size, but because they hunt in packs. Working together makes one able to accomplish things impossible to do if one stood alone. Only the fewest cubs stand a chance in a world of dangers if they were alone but can live and grow to do great things when protected and aided by the pack. The immortal spirit of the wolf lives not in the individual but in the wholeness of the pack, the Ari Scara guild. Wolves live and die but their spirit is forever. The emphasis of the guild is to help the young so that we will live on not as individual heroes but as a group whose name and tradition will be carried on long after we all become one the spirit world. If we are to defeat our enemies we cannot do so by fighting them as lone champions only as a united force. Our purpose is to help, guide and educate those that seek our aid and to stand against those that threaten our freedom. Knowledge, reason and wisdom are important virtues of the Ari Scara, because they enable us to make the right decisions in conflict as well as time of peace. Force is good, but force without reason is dangerous, because it can so easily be manipulated and channelled into actions that, although appear good, are in fact pure evil. Therefore we encourage every member of the Ari Scara to familiarize themselves with the history of the world and be ever critical and raise questions whenever those around you tell you what to do, think or believe.
Treating our enemies with the respect they deserve is an important issue. Many fail to see this in the heart of conflict and will blindly attack and kill those that appear hostile at the first glance. When in large battle there is a lot of confusion and every alliance member you see is a potential enemy. However when not in battle, the elves dwarves, gnomes and humans you meet are to be met with respect
unless they engage in hostile activity in which case they must be met with the fierceness of the wolf spirit. We are not to be the judges of how you treat the alliance you encounter but bare in mind that many walk the lands of Azeroth in peace, searching for answers and performing duties for the alliance that isn’t considered hostile towards the horde or the forsaken.
That said it never pays off to be friendly to those that bare you ill will. Kindness is a good and virtous thing but it is wasted on those that wants to hurt you. Time and energy spent on those that manipulate and use you is time and energy lost. Be mindful who you become friendly with and dont extend kindship and favors to those that do not deserve it!
The symbology of our tabbard is quite straight forward:
The red color has always been the mark of the horde.
The head of the wolf is a reference to the Scara (orchis for wolf) part of the Ari Scara.
The white borders in conjunction with the red background is a reference to the fact that the founders of the guild is in real life from Denmark and red and white are the colors of the Danish flag.
After long and hard considerations it has been decided to lower the roleplaying standards we set out to have. In short the lack of involvement in the events and storyline was the main reason and the work it demanded has been deemed not worth the effort. This however does not mean that we deviate for our in character standards described in the responsibilities section. There will be an indepth article later explaining the reasons of the changes but for now here are some of the highlights of this guild reformation:
- The Ngwav Scara (initiation ritual)
has been removed from play and any wolfcub(initiate) who wish to rise in the ranks will do so if and only if their assigned Fenris(officer) feels that they have what it takes roleplaying-wise. What this means is that in order for you to rise from wolfcub(initiate) to wolfguard(member) you have to have had one or more in character dialogs with your assigned Fenris(officer) and he or she then has to tell the Magistrate that you are worth of the promotion. If the Fenris(officer) assigned to you doesn't initiate these meetings it is up to you as a member, if you want a promotion, to seek him or her out and engage in dialogs. Alternately you can write and send your characters backgroundstory along with a screenshot and if it is written properly in character this also grants promotion from Wolfcub to Wolfguard.
- Guild events
and the internal storyline has been put on hold until there is a greater level of involvement in the guild. This doesn't mean that there wont be anymore guild event just that the main effort is placed on guild management instead of roleplaying for the time being.
- Guild day
every tuesday between 18:00-20:00 the Magistrate(guild master), and or several Fenris, will be present in Crossroads to aid guild members with anything from quest to gamemechanics. If you have any questions regarding the guild or the world of warcraft they will be here for your benefit.
- The Guild Channel
is not a tradechannel, this means that trade or productional messages will cease as per of today, instead there will be added a trade/production section to the website where any and every member can post what they can and will craft for other guildmembers. In order for this to work probably it is important that you mail the guildmaster everytime you as a member discover or learn new things to craft that you think could benefit others in the guild, the bigger the knowledge pool the bigger the chance that we can make something for you!
- Money for riding beast
In order to keep just a taint of the roleplaying-aspect the guild will provide a loan of 90 gold for a riding beast for any lvl 40 who is willing to go on one single guild quest. The only catch is, that if you complete the quest and are granted the loan, you yourself have to be willing to participate in pooling of gold for a loan to a coming lvl 40 character. As an examples here is what Stikkelsbergs Ari Scara Ridingbeast Quest looked liked:
As of today it is now possible to open savings accounts at the bank of Ari Scara Aka Eltoroloco. The money you place is locked away(that means nobody but the bullman himself knows where it is) and kept for safe storage. The procedure is as follows:
- Send a note of the transaction along with the money to Eltoroloco.
- If you feel the need for safety you can request a receipt that you can keep as a record of your deposit.
- At any given time you request a balance notification from the bank, keep a copy of this in your inventory as this is your bankbook and remember to replace when it is updated.
- If you wish to withdraw you have to expect a period of atleast a day from the reception of your request as the money are often invested in order to make them grow.
- The interests you earn may vary depending on the amount of the deposit, your credability and your posistion within the guild.
Ari Scara is currently looking for someone to fill the position as quartermaster in the guild. It will be an exciting job managing the weapons, equipment and artifacts, and production/enhancement of these, of the Ari Scara guild. The Quartermaster must at all times be aware of the productional capabilities in regards to new breakthroughs in the developement of the aforementioned, and be ready to answer any questions regarding weapons and or tradegoods to the other members of the guild.

Experienced players and long time chat users have a tendancy to invent acronyms and context oriented terms that have little or no meaning to people who are new to the game/chat enviroment. To help those, and to avoid confusion we at Ari Scara have compiled a short list of terms, expressions and acronyms often found in the game, and their meaning. We do however appreciate that you, as a member, do not use any of these terms or expression in the general or IC channel. I have played on both PVE, RP and PVP servers and I strive to keep my PVP flag on at all times, for the sake of realism. This does not mean that I mindlessly charge every other player that have their PVP flag on, only if the circumstance deamands it, eg. one of our villages are being attacked by enemy forces. I leave it on because I dont want to deprive other players of the option of atacking me if they want or feel they have to. This however has led to the fact that I've probably visited the spiritworld more than all the other guildmembers combined(at one episode I got ganked more the 40 times while I refused to turn of my PVP flag while fishing at the small pier at Nessingwarys Expedition, they even started beating me with their fists), but thats the price I pay for my principles of realism in combat and roleplaying. I find it annoyingly unrealistic though that a player can leave his PVP flag off, wander into the midst of a group of enemies a grief away without them being able to do anything about it, except lower themselves to that players behavioral level by doing the same. This is afterall the World of Warcraft NOT the World of Griefcraft. What I find even more annoying are players who run around with their PVP flag off and dont attack untill the opertune moment when their victim is more or less prone to their attack. I'm not saying that I disapprove ambushes or backstabs as long as their done with wit and in the spirit of the game but not by an abuse of a game technicallity. In fact I have died several times at the hands of cunning foes and actually enjoyed it because they made a well planned ambush and I fell for it. The reason that I dislike the unrealistic attacks so much, is because it forces me to play unrealistic. If for instance my PVP flag is on, which it almost always is, and im fighting a monster that is tough but I have a fair chance of beating and then an enemy player approaches during the fight and stands close to me, his or her PVP flag off. Then I have to flee if I dont want to die even though I could have beaten the monster or the player in a fair fight, because I cant attack the player, his or her PVP flag being off, and I know the moment that Im low on health and or mana he or she will attack me with full advantage. Another example is an high-level enemy force that has fought its way through countless dangers and arrives at a small village that is the nesting area for one of the races. Sure they can fight the NPC's but they'll do so in front of a bunch low level characters who are mooning, spitting and without a doubt showering them with griefings other gestures of untold profanities. I dont know why that is also the case on PVP servers but starting characters are for some reason untouchable. I do see the need for safety in the starting areas but I think the solution should be more high-level NPC guards, this is after all their most precious treasure -> the coming generation of that factions defenders, so that the attack would be virtually impossible but not undoable. One other problem is that you, as a player, can see the level of a potential opponent and choose to remain in PVP off mode which is equally unrealistic, eg. I wont attack that Orc who is threatening my home village because the number above his head is way higher than mine?!? I have read that there will be a new honour system implemented by Blizzard soon that works against Gankers and I do hope that it will root out those who abuse the game technicallities and that it will promote realistic roleplay and combat.
From time to time though I do run into players that are above the ganking and griefing. I had great experience one night where I was travelling through Desolace, I ran into a Human Priestess that were several levels higher than me. My PVP being on, I stood and waited for her to kill me, as is often the case under similar circumstances, but instead she motioned at me and started talking. Ofcourse I couldn't understand her but we somehow managed to agree, using emotes, that we should help each other. I dont now if that was bad roleplay but I found it interesting and we fought side by side for the better of that night, tapping in turn so we both got to loot and gain experince. She even left half the contest of a chest and motioned that I should take it. In character I made up that she had somehow cast a mind control spell on me and that I couldn't attack her(her PVP being off even though she could have torn me limb from limb in a heartbeat). It all ended when an even higher level Gnomish Warlock came and ganked me while I was fighting a bunch of Kolkar, but the funny thing was that her character emoted that she mourned after I died.
I encourage that all the members of the guild leave PVP flag on all the time for the sake of realism but I dont demand it. This will leave the bad roleplay or unrealistic combat to be a decision made by the other players. I do hope however that none of our members gank or grief as this will lower the standard of the game experience for everybody and make Ari Scara synonomous with Gankers & Griefers INC.

As a service to our members we provide a glossary of words from the orcish tongue based on tolkiens "translations". This is meant as an inspiration to and help you, the children of the war, get in contact with your roots. We also have some notes on Patois the strange dialect that the Trolls of Darkspear Tribe speak. We do hope to get some info soon on the the language of the Tauren, all we know at this point is that its called something like Tauraji, but unfortunately the Taurens of the guild has been very secretive about their native tongue.
The Orcish Tongue
The language of the orcs is, based on our sources, derived from the germanic/nordic ancient tongues which means that people from Scandinavia and Germany will be familiar with many of the words and terms(e.g. "dyr" is the Danish word for animal). The glossary primarily consist of words and phrases that we find would be useful to know if you live in a warrior/shamanistic society like that of the Horde.

Troll Speech
Very little is known about the language of the Darkspear Trolls as they have no written language of their own, and undoubtly its spoken form went through a lot of changes when the tribe fled from Stranglehthorn Vale aided by Thralls horde. They are a strange race that hate all others and sometimes even themselves which brought that they very early split into different tribes. Their migration also widened the gap between the tribes and linguistic difficulties is fueling the hatred between Darkspear and the other Trolls. What is known, is that it is a hideous language mostly composed of curses and vile nastiness and people who try to be polite when speaking in their tongue are often mocked by the Trolls. This is the reason that even people who know their language prefer to speak with them in Orcish instead. This has led to the "Patois" dialect wich is a mishmash of Orcish and Trollspeech. Handicapped by the fact that there is no written form, and the general dislike and/or disinterest of Trollspeech, is the reason that there exist no "Patois" grammar. All we have are a few statements and translations from Cajuungumbo who claim that there are no true rules of how to speak it, except for the fact that there are very few nice things a Troll can and will say. Although this may not be true for all Trolls it is the most direct source we have to understanding them and their language.
"if ya want to chatta a Patois chew up half dem words and mispornouns de rez".
And the phrase
"ya bloodclaat battybwoy nuh badda tess mi, cah mi wi tear yuh dung mon"
Which is translated into :
You bloodcloth(a reference to womens hygenic linnen) assboy(meaning homosexual) you better not test me because I will tear you down man.
